Born in France in 1994, Olivier Carillier started studying violin with Nina Likht in Toulouse at the age of 5. After graduating in 2011, he entered in the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, where he achieved his Bachelors in 2015 and Masters in 2017 in violin with Raphaël Oleg. He started studying viola in the class of Silvia Simionescu and will obtain his Master in June 2020.
Laureate of numerous competitions for solo and chamber music in France, Italy, Hungary, Poland, and Switzerland, Olivier won the first prize of the « Marianne und Curt Dienemaann Stiftung » competition (Luzern, 2019) and was finalist of the « Thomas Kuti competition » organized by the Lions Club in Paris. He played at various festivals with renowned artists such as the Gringolts Quartet and the Doric Quartet, and was invited to play at the festival Mendelssohn in Mull (Scotland,2019) by the Doric Quartet.
Currently academist in the Kammerorchester Basel, Olivier will be playing as soloist with the Sinfonieorchester Basel in June 2020.
