Garwyn Linnell

Garwyn was 10 years old when a combination of having the opportunity to start learning the cello in school and hearing Yo-Yo Ma’s recording of Bach’s first Cello Suite made him fall in love with the instrument.

Garwyn studied in Essen, Germany at the Folkwang University of the Arts where he gained his Bachelor Degree. He has had the opportunity to  study with many great artists such as Sung-Won Yang, Xenia Jankovic, Marcio Carneiro, Romain Garioud, Colin Carr, Claudio Bohorquez, Gary Hoffman, Adrian Brendel, Hyung-ki Joo, and Troels Svane in a variety of festivals and masterclasses.

Garwyn is currently completing his Masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music with John Myerscough and is the cellist of the Ametza Quartet who are part of the Frost A.S.S.E.T chamber music scheme at the Academy.
