Jonathan Ponet is a Belgian violist, founding member of the Adelphi Quartet, active chamber musician and ensemble player. He studied with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum in Salzburg where he currently studies chamber music with his quartet in the class of Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet). He regularly performs throughout Europe and other parts of the world.
He attended masterclasses as a soloist as well as a chamber musician with renowned musicians such as: Liviu Prunaru, Diemut Poppen, Barbara Westphal, Jean Sulem, the Danel Quartet, Alasdair Taite, Eberhard Feltz and Valentin Erben. Since 2014 he is a scholar of the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
In the past years he developed a strong interest in historically informed performance. This resulted in starting baroque violin studies with Hiro Kurosaki also at the Mozarteum and obtaining a position as scholar with the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble, one of the leading European authentic performance ensembles, lead by Thomas Hengelbrock.
